Domain Registration
What is a domain name?
Every computer connected to the Internet has an address called IP that allows it to communicate with other computers equally connected. This address is made up of four groups of number going from 1 to 255 and separated by a decimal point. These addresses would be difficult for us to remember, so we have the domain name.
How is the domain name made up?
The domain name is made up of letters and numbers; they too are separated by a decimal point. The very last group of letter is called the extension.
The extension represents the zone in which the name finds itself. It can be regional, like a country, e.g. .uk for United Kingdom, .fr fro France. It can also be generic and these span all regions; these are the .com, .info, .org and so on. It is calle the Top Level Domain or TLD.
An analogy with which we are familiar is our postal address; reading the address on an envelope from bottom to top we have country, city, street, number and finally the recipient's name; written in the Domain Name System it would read "recipent.number.street.city.country".
Bondonneau eSolutions offer you the possibility to register with a variety of Top Level Domains.
